BURLINGTON, ON – Hamilton-area community television channel Cable 14 has completed its upgrade to the DreamCatcher (DC-ONE) replay system and live production suite offered by Evertz Technologies.

DC-ONE provides the advanced production tools needed for any demanding live production, including zooming, splitscreens, ganged inputs and transcoding in a streamlined, easy to use platform that is fully upgradable, reads the news release.

Noting that its replay system operators come from a variety of backgrounds, including college and high-school interns, Cable 14 said that the DC-ONE platform’s intuitive interface enabled operators to rapidly adapt to live production workflows. In addition, DC-ONE’s feature set includes the ability to easily build highlight reels for archiving and offloading content from the DC-ONE platform, an essential requirement for Cable 14 due to their ongoing, fast-paced production schedule.

“Moving to DC-ONE was a smooth and easy transition for our staff and crews given the familiarity that we had with the existing product,” said Cable 14 broadcast operations manager Bill Custers, in the release.  “DC-ONE meets our critical requirements, is extremely reliable, and has an upgrade path should our requirements evolve. Combined with Evertz’ ongoing support, DC-ONE enables the creative flexibility we need in producing high quality local content.”

“Cable 14 were one of our first partners and have been instrumental in the success of the DreamCatcher platform,” added Nima Malekmanesh, product marketing manager and senior engineer for DreamCatcher. “The new DC-ONE system offers a powerful feature set in a cost effective package that provides Cable 14 with the tools for telling a fantastic story. We congratulate Cable 14 on its successful deployment and look forward to our continued partnership.”

Owned and operated as a community channel by its shareholders Cogeco Communications and Rogers Communications, Cable 14 showcases the Greater Hamilton area as the best place to live, work, play and learn, by promoting innovation, engaging citizens and providing an avenue for diverse voices and alternative choices.
