CAB hires Elizabeth Roscoe

OTTAWA – It didn’t take long for the Canadian Association of Broadcasters to find someone who knows the ins and outs of the new federal Conservative leadership.

It was announced Friday that Elizabeth Roscoe is joining the CAB as senior vice-president policy and public affairs as of April 10th.

Roscoe’s most recent job in communications and media was as senior vice-president external affairs for the Canadian Cable Television Association, a position she left in 2003 to join Carleton University as executive director, partnership development. Prior to her last stint at the CCTA, she was VP government relations for Shaw Communications.

However, most importantly for the association, Roscoe was part of the five-person transition team created by former senior bureaucrat and industry CEO, Derek Burney, to advise Prime Minister Stephen Harper through the transition period and prepare the Conservative government to assume power following the federal election.

Roscoe was chief of staff to cabinet minister Barbara McDougall in the Finance, Privatization and Status of Women portfolios from 1984 to 1988 and prior to that worked for Finance Minister (and current Canadian Ambassador to the U.S.) Michael Wilson.

Reporting to CAB CEO Glenn O’Farrell, Roscoe will be responsible for all aspects of the CAB’s government relations strategies, communications initiatives and public policy activities.
