Brownlee replaces Powers at CTVgm

TORONTO – Bonnie Brownlee has been hired as senior vice-president, corporate communications at CTVglobemedia, the company announced today.

Reporting to group senior vice-president Paul Sparkes, Brownlee is now responsible for leading the company’s corporate communications strategy.

She replaces Mary Powers, who has decided to step down from the role to launch her own strategic communications and brand marketing company, Powers Communications, with CTVglobemedia as her lead client.

Previously, Brownlee was vice-president, communications for Astral Television Networks, director of national media relations for Bloomingdale’s New York City and for 10 years with the Government of Canada as Executive Assistant to former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mrs. Mulroney.

She has also served as advisor to the Duke & Duchess of York, and John F. Kennedy Jr. amongst others. Most recently, she has been working with CTV on key strategic planning and partnership initiatives.

"Bonnie has provided expert strategic direction on a number of files spanning corporate, political and entertainment spheres both internationally and domestically. We look forward to her joining the company," said Sparkes

Brownlee is currently chair of the Board of Canada’s Walk of Fame and sits on a number of philanthropic committees for organizations in both Canada and the United States

As for Powers, she will continue to focus on developing CTVglobemedia’s industry relations. She, too has led a long and prominent career in broadcasting beginning with CHUM Limited and most recently CTVglobemedia where she oversaw the companies’ corporate profiles in the domestic and international marketplace.

Powers sits on numerous industry boards including Chair of The Banff Television Festival Foundation.

"Launching Powers Communications is the realization of a long-term goal and I’m particularly pleased to continue representing CTVglobemedia within the industry," said Powers, in a release.
