
QUEBEC – Quebecor announced today it will air a debate between four political party leaders on Sept. 2 at 8 p.m. on TVA, LCN, QUB Radio, and their digital platforms.
Liberal leader Justin Trudeau, Conservative leader Erin O’Toole, Bloc Quebecois leader Yves-François Blanchet and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh have all been invited to the debate. TVA’s Pierre Bruneau will host.
There will also be a pre-debate broadcast aired at 6 p.m. and a post-debate broadcast at 10 p.m. with analysts.
Earlier this week, the Debate Broadcast Group announced French and English-language debates will be held at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec on Sept. 8 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. EDT and Sept. 9 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. EDT respectively.
Radio-Canada’s Patrice Roy will moderate the French-language debate with participation from Hélène Buzzetti of Les coops de l’information, Guillaume Bourgault-Côté of L’actualité, Paul Journet of La Presse and Marie Vastel of Le Devoir. “Journalist Noémi Mercier (Noovo Info) will moderate segments that include questions asked by Canadians directly to the party leaders,” according to a press release from the Debate Broadcast Group.
The English-language debate will be moderated by Sachi Kurl, president of the Angust Reid Institute, with participation from Rosemary Barton from CBC News, Melissa Ridgen from APTN News, Evan Solomon from CTV News and Mercedes Stephenson from Global News.
“A growing list of distribution partners will join the Debate Broadcast Group in broadcasting the debates, including OMNI Television and CPAC, with the debates free to be picked up by interested broadcasters and media organizations,” the press release says.
