OTTAWA – The Broadcasting Accessibility Fund has issued its inaugural call for letters of intent for those seeking financial support for initiatives that advance accessibility to broadcasting content for Canadians with disabilities.

Once the grant committee of the board of directors has reviewed the letters, potential applicants will be contacted and asked to submit a full application.  Letters of intent are due by March 12, 2015 and may be submitted in English or French at the Fund’s website by following the links to ‘call for letters’ and ‘how to apply'.  Alternative formats are available by contacting the Fund’s office.

“Over the past several months, we’ve heard some great ideas from a number of groups, organizations, researchers and others about ways of improving access to broadcasting content across various platforms,” said CEO/funding officer Richard Cavanagh, in the news release. “It seems logical to ask for a brief summary of any proposal before taking on the work of a full application to the Fund.”

Created as part of the tangible benefits package associated with Bell Canada’s acquisition of CTV, the BAF was established as an independent and impartial funding body supporting innovative projects to increase the accessibility of broadcasting content in Canada.
