Broadcasting Accessibility Fund calls for more applications

OTTAWA — The Broadcasting Accessibility Fund has opened its sixth round of funding with a call for letters of intent from interested individuals or groups wanting to apply for a grant from the Fund.

The Fund was created from CRTC benefits packages with the objective of financially supporting initiatives that advance accessibility to broadcasting content for Canadians with disabilities. The grant committee of the Fund’s board of directors will review all letters of intent and will select applicants who will be invited to submit a full grant application to the Fund.

Details on what to include in a letter of intent, and the kinds of initiatives the Fund is looking for, can be found at www.baf-far.ca. Potential applicants are expected to review the Fund’s mandate and to describe how the proposed project or initiative will further the objectives of the mandate.

The deadline for letters of intent is Monday, March 23, 2020. All those who submit letters of intent will be informed of the decision of the grant committee.

The Broadcasting Accessibility Fund is an independent and impartial funding body supporting innovative projects that provide solutions to promote the accessibility of all broadcasting content in Canada. The Fund will support projects that provide practical solutions to increase accessibility to broadcasting content and that, whenever possible, make use of inclusive design principles to promote accessibility at the earliest stages and in the most cost-effective manner for new technologies and applications in Canada.
