
TORONTO – CTV president Rick Brace (right) will be one of seven distinguished Ryerson University graduates honored this Saturday for their career achievements.
“The seven are examples of the career success and community involvement that are hallmarks of Ryerson University graduates. Five have been named as recipients of the Alumni Award of Distinction; two are being presented the Isadore Sharp Outstanding Recent Graduate Award.
"These awards recognize more than the personal success of our graduates; they honour their outstanding contributions as citizens, as innovators, and as outstanding Canadians," said Adam B. Kahan, vice-president, university advancement, in a press release announcing the event. "Ryerson alumni make a difference and have a huge impact not only in their chosen professions, but also in the community at large."
Broadcaster and Ryerson graduate Valerie Pringle will host the awards ceremony.
Alumni Award of Distinction recipients:
* Rick Brace (Radio and Television Arts 1975), President of CTV Inc. and an innovator in specialty TV development (especially with CBC, Netstar and TSN).
* David Keighley (Image Arts 1972), senior vice president of IMAX and the source of many technical innovations in large format motion picture production.
* Carol Couchie (Midwifery 1998), the first Aboriginal woman in Canada registered to practice in her field.
* Wendy Muller (Hospitality and Tourism Management 1978), head of Canadian advertising and sales for Google, the industry’s premier search engine.
* Janet Rosenberg (Landscape Architecture 1976), recognized for incorporating artistic elements in her many high-profile landscape projects throughout North America.
Isadore Sharp Outstanding Recent Graduate Award
* Mark Bishop and Matt Hornburg, both Radio and Television Arts, class of 1998. Mark and Matt founded and developed marblemedia, a groundbreaking digital media and television production company.
