As the Toronto Blue Jays prepare for Game 4 of the 2025 World Series, Rogers announced Tuesday its Rogers Xfinity customers across the country have already smashed internet data usage records during the first three games.
During Games 1, 2 and 3, Rogers Xfinity customers consumed 145,000 terabytes (TB) of data, the equivalent of streaming a three-minute video of pinch hitter Addison Barger hitting a grand slam 1.28 billion times, according to a Rogers press release.
Customers used more than 80,000 TB of data on the Rogers wireline network during the first two games, and during the epic 6.5-hour Game 3, which lasted 18 innings, they used 65,000 TB of data, or the equivalent of sharing a photo of catcher Alejandro Kirk hitting a homerun 23 billion times, according to Rogers.
Rogers said almost half of its TV customers watched the first three games on Rogers Xfinity TV.
“Canadians across the country are cheering on the Blue Jays and we’re proud to deliver the country’s most reliable internet to power the viewing experience of our customers at home,” said Mark Kennedy, chief technology officer at Rogers, in the press release.
In addition, customers attending Game 1 at Rogers Centre used 6.8 TB of wireless data, the highest volume ever at a home game in Toronto, Rogers said.
