TORONTO — Blue Ant International announced Monday it signed an exclusive agreement with HBO Max to stream some live-action kids’ programming.
As part of the deal, HBO Max has exclusive rights to stream both seasons of Blue Ant’s tween action-adventure series Detention Adventure (pictured), which follows a motley crew of sixth graders who get themselves thrown into detention on purpose after discovering the entrance to a labyrinth of tunnels under their school, laden with traps and riddles, protecting a long-lost secret — the lost laboratory of Alexander Graham Bell. Season one (10 episodes x 11 minutes) and season two (10×11) are both produced by LoCo Motion Pictures and Broken Compass Films. The series stars Simone Miller (Snapshots), Alina Prijono (Odd Squad), Jack Fulton (Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments) and Tomaso Sanelli (Titans, Holly Hobbie).
HBO Max also picked up exclusive rights to stream Make it Big, Make it Small (7×30, or 14×11), an unscripted series produced by Blue Ant Studios that celebrates science and creativity with two curious kid hosts. Every episode, the series’ two nine-year-old hosts tour an extraordinary attraction and get a behind-the-scenes look at the science involved in everything from bouncing monster trucks to the attraction of butterflies at a conservatory. Each episode culminates in a fun DIY project guided by a craft expert that ties in the newly learned scientific theory.
“These sales highlight the demand for content that parents can trust during these challenging times, which reinforces Blue Ant International’s mission to offer our partners premium content that provides solutions to their audiences’ needs,” said Ludo Dufour, senior vice-president of international co-productions and sales at Blue Ant International, in the press release.
