Blue Ant Media greenlights new Boss Shark doc, Season 4 of Wildlife ER

Blue Ant Media announced Tuesday the greenlight of a fourth season of Wildlife ER and a new Boss Shark documentary for its wildlife and nature channel Love Nature.

The commissions are overseen by Alison Barrat, senior vice president and head of content for Blue Ant Media’s global channels and streaming. Blue Ant Rights oversees pre-sales and licensing outside of commissioning territories.

Produced by Australian independent documentary studio WildBear Entertainment, Wildlife ER Season 4 (six episodes x 60 minutes) follows the team of vets, nurses and volunteers at the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital on Australia’s Gold Coast.

“From koalas battling chlamydia and piloting a groundbreaking vaccine program, to injured marine birds and rescued reptiles fighting their way back to the wild, each episode reveals the challenges, triumphs, and heartwarming recoveries behind the hospital’s doors,” reads a series description in a Blue Ant press release.

Boss Shark: Whale Hunter (working title) is the latest documentary in the Boss Shark series, also produced by WildBear Entertainment. In this new one-hour doc, shark expert Dr. Riley Elliott “is on a mission to uncover a previously unrecognized life stage of Great White sharks that sees them break free from their coastal hunting strategies to take on the largest animals on earth,” as they metamorphose into whale hunters, the press release says.

Blue Ant Media announced the new commissions at the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers, being held this week in Rio de Janeiro.

“The World Congress of Science & Factual Producers, a forum that fosters excellence in factual storytelling, is the ideal place to debut these greenlights,” Barrat said in Blue Ant’s press release. “These new series show Blue Ant’s commitment to delivering a broad range of natural history, which reflects our global commissioning strategy of investing in premium factual content that resonates with audiences around the world.”
