Blue Ant launches Crimetime on Roku Channel

TORONTO — Blue Ant Media announced today it is launching Crimetime, its second free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel on the Roku Channel, following the launch of HauntTV in December.

Now available to Canadians free of charge on the Roku platform, Crimetime is a one-stop destination for viewers to stream hundreds of hours of unscripted true crime, mystery and investigative programming.

“As Canadians’ options for compelling programming continues to expand, Blue Ant Media is committed to building our content offering in the FAST channel space by partnering with emerging distribution platforms such as The Roku Channel,” says Jamie Schouela, president of global channels and media at Blue Ant Media, in a press release. “Crimetime unlocks a carefully curated catalogue of the best unscripted real-life crime stories and delivers it to a new and engaged audience where fans of this genre are seeking out compelling content to watch for free.” (Ed note: For what it’s worth, we quite like the FAST acronym better than AVOD…)

Some of the shows on offer on Crimetime at launch include: In Ice Cold Blood (36 episodes x 60 minutes, seasons 1-3), hosted by rap artist and actor Ice-T, which provides audiences with in-depth interviews, dramatic re-enactments and archival footage to explore shocking real-life crime cases; Snapped: Killer Couples (10 x 60, season 12), following America’s most dangerous duos and the evolution of their toxic relationships; See No Evil (58 x 60, seasons 1-4), a ground-breaking series unveiling how real murder cases are solved with the help of CCTV surveillance cameras; and Occult Crimes (10 x 60, season 1), which reveals police cases where dark forces are at work, from occult crimes to human sacrifices and satanic rituals.

Streamers can access both Crimetime and HauntTV for free on the Roku Channel in the “Live TV” section of their Roku streaming player or Roku TV.
