Blue Ant International secures deals with Latin American platforms

TORONTO — Blue Ant Media’s global distribution group, Blue Ant International, announced today several content sales to leading linear and streaming platforms across Latin America.

The deals include the sale of premium programming across Blue Ant International’s factual and specialist factual categories to Latin American buyers including DirecTV, DirecTV Go, Sky Brazil, Globosat and AMC Networks International.

Latin American pay-TV service DirecTV and streaming platform DirecTV Go, in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Mexico, have picked up the two-part documentary Bathsheba, produced by Cream Productions. (You can read more about Bathsheba here.)

DirecTV and DirecTV Go have also licensed The Royal Documentaries, a collection of 20 documentaries produced by ITN Productions that includes Harry and Meghan: Two Troubled Years (shown above) as well as other perspectives on the royal family including “nostalgic look backs at Diana and Queen Elizabeth II, offering a look at their lives through a lens of historical context and cultural significance,” reads a press release.

As part of this deal, Sky Brazil has also picked up The Royal Documentaries to air in Brazil.

AMC Networks International in Latin America has purchased a programming package from Love Nature’s 4K originals library in Mexico, South America and Central America. Included in the deal are the Blue Ant Studios-produced series Baby Animals and Strange Creatures (each featuring 13 half-hour episodes).

Globosat in Brazil has acquired exclusive pay-TV and SVOD rights for Into the Blue, an eight-part series produced by Zona Mixta that is “a stunning exploration of the various marine ecosystems and thousands of underwater creatures that live in the Coral Triangle in the western Pacific Ocean,” the release says.

“These most recent sales are a reflection of popular and ratings-driving titles across paranormal, documentaries and natural history. The broad range of content illustrates how versatile and diverse our catalogue is for providing programming for all types of audiences,” said Maria Ibarra, vice-president of international sales for Blue Ant International, in the release.

“Overseeing both pre-sales and content licensing with our Latin America buyers, I look forward to being in contact with Latam partners for our most current content offerings.”
