Blue Ant celebrates 10 years with new original productions

TORONTO – Blue Ant Media announced today 10 new and returning originals premiering on its Canadian specialty networks to mark its 10-year anniversary this September.

“The new premium programming lineup includes outdoor lifestyle and survival shows, paranormal anthology series, compelling documentaries and relevant specials with several programs available for licensing globally by Blue Ant International,” reads a press release.

New shows include Eli Roth Presents: A Ghost Ruined My Life (8×60), which is scheduled for its Canadian broadcast premiere on T+E in fall 2021. The anthology series “examines horrifying real-life stories of hauntings experienced by everyday people,” the press release says.

Eli Roth Presents is a Blue Ant Media and discovery+ co-production, executive produced by Eli Roth (Inglorious Basterds, Hostel) and Cream Productions.

T+E will also premiere documentary special The Lost Colony of Roanoke (1×90), which “follows a team of archaeologists as they dig for evidence that could help solve one of America’s oldest and most controversial mysteries: what happened to the English colony on Roanoke Island?” reads the press release.

The show’s Canadian broadcast premiere is scheduled for “spring 2022 during T+E’s nationwide free preview event.”

Griff’s Great Canadian Adventure (6×60) will mark “the first original commission for BBC First in Canada since Blue Ant Media launched the channel in partnership with BBC Studios in March 2021,” the press release says.

The documentary “follows Welsh comedian and travel enthusiast Griff Rhys Jones on an epic journey across the commonwealth country as he explores Canadian cultures and traditions.” The show’s Canadian broadcast premiere is scheduled for spring 2022.

It is co-produced by Nikki Ray Media Agency and EQ Media Group, in association with Blue Ant Media, Channel 4, Abacus Media Rights, Quiver Entertainment, Australian Broadcasting Corporation and The History Channel (NZ), the press release says.

Also upcoming are the world broadcast premieres of the documentary specials The Digital Divide (working title; 1×60) and Strange Creatures (working title; 1×60) on BBC Earth in spring 2022, and the Canadian broadcast premiere of History by the Numbers (20×60) on Smithsonian Channel, which is also scheduled for spring 2022.

Returning original productions on Cottage Life include season two of Cottage Life’s Life Below Zero: Canada (above; 8×60), season four of Merchants of the Wild (13×30) and season three of Ice Vikings (8×60). Smithsonian Channel’s World’s Most Scenic River Journeys (10×60) is also set to return for season two. All are scheduled for spring 2022.
