TORONTO — Wild Pacific Rescue, a new documentary series produced by White Pine Pictures, will premiere on Blue Ant Media’s Cottage Life channel in Canada in spring 2021 and will roll out across select Love Nature linear and streaming video platforms internationally, the company announced Tuesday.
Wild Pacific Rescue (6×60; 4K) takes viewers on expeditions along the rugged, mountain-ringed coastline of the Pacific Northwest, with world-renowned veterinarian Dr. Marty Haulena and his team as they rescue and rehabilitate some of the ocean’s most extraordinary creatures such as orcas, sea lions, dolphins and sea turtles.
Ocean Wise Conservation Association, the not-for-profit that operates the Vancouver Aquarium where Haulena works, provides the series’ producers with exclusive access where on any given day, the MMR team could be disentangling a trapped California sea lion from a fishing net, administering antibiotics to a sick orca from a moving Zodiac, or hand raising an orphaned sea otter pup.
“The stories in each episode highlight the passion the caregivers at the Vancouver Aquarium bring to their work and the deep connections they have with all animals,” says Carlyn Staudt, executive vice-president, Love Nature 4K, in the news release. “Wild Pacific Rescue’s breathtaking 4K footage immerses viewers in the beauty of the natural habitat as well as high stakes these wild mammals face.”
Wild Pacific Rescue is created and produced by White Pine Pictures in exclusive partnership with the Ocean Wise Conservation Association. The series was created by Andrew Munger and is produced by Peter Raymont and Munger. Overseeing the series for Cottage Life is Sam Linton, head of original content, Blue Ant Media. James Manfull will executive produce the series on behalf of Love Nature. Blue Ant International will handle series licensing opportunities worldwide, including the U.S.
