Blackberry ticker from The Score

TORONTO – Like people don’t look at their Blackberries enough already.

Just in time for the NHL and NBA playoffs, sports network The Score has launched its ubiquitous ticker to BlackBerry devices throughout Canada.

Score Mobile Version 1.0 delivers up-to-the-minute sports scores, spreads and lines for fans who can’t get to a TV or who don’t want to wait for a web site to load on their "crackberries" in order to get the goods on their favorite teams… or the games they’ve bet on…

"We all know what it’s like to be stuck at your great aunt’s birthday party or having dinner with the in laws when your favourite team is in the playoffs," says Benjamin Levy, vice-president, Score Media. "A simple click and the up-to-the minute scores are on your Blackberry or mobile phone screen and you won’t be caught trying to get a look at the game on the TV in the other room."

Sponsored by Molson, Score Mobile is available on Blackberry devices and numerous widely available web-enabled mobile phones from most Canadian wireless carriers. Additional compatible phones are being added on a regular basis.

Score Mobile Version 1.0 can be downloaded for free at www.thescore.ca, subject to standard wireless data fees.

"The ease-of-use and look of Score Mobile is like nothing else out there. It’s always up-to-the-minute and a breeze to use," says Levy.

Since launching Score Mobile for mobile phones in October 2005, more than 13,000 users have downloaded or pre-registered for it. Based on user feedback and evolving technology, Score Media plans to expand its mobile offering, says the company.
