BlackBerry signs three-year deal, becomes MLSE’s computing partner

TORONTO – Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) announced a three-year marketing partnership with BlackBerry Tuesday to collaborate on the development of a range of new apps that will enable MLSE-owned teams to connect with fans by sharing information and updates.

The partnership names BlackBerry as the official mobile computing partner of the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL), Toronto Raptors (NBA) and Toronto Marlies (AHL). The BlackBerry brand will also be featured prominently in and around the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

BlackBerry and MLSE will work together to develop BBM channels and a range of apps native to the BlackBerry 10 operating system to allow players from the Maple Leafs and Raptors to connect directly with fans, sharing exclusive content and real-time updates.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with BlackBerry and this announcement means exciting things are in store for BlackBerry customers and Maple Leafs and Raptors fans everywhere,” said David Hopkinson, senior vice-president, global partnerships and marketing for MLSE, in a release. “We look forward to bringing unprecedented access and some amazing experiences to our fans through this partnership over the next several years.”
