BlackBerry outage could result in class-action lawsuit

MONTREAL – Beleaguered Research In Motion is bracing for a class action lawsuit launched by the Consumer Law Group Inc. on behalf of Canadians impacted by BlackBerry service outages earlier this month. The Montreal-based law firm said late Tuesday that the class action involves “RIM's failure to take action” to either directly or indirectly (i.e. through wireless service providers) compensate BlackBerry users for the services outages from October 11 to October 14. The lawsuit still needs to be certified by a judge as a class action before it can go forward. www.rim.com www.clg.org
