And adds user behaviour analytics product
WATERLOO — BlackBerry today added two new AI-powered solutions to its product line — BlackBerry Protect Mobile, a new mobile threat defense (MTD) solution, and BlackBerry Persona Desktop, a user and entity behaviour analytics (UEBA) solution.
Both are available as part of BlackBerry Cyber Suite, a new offering which combines MTD, UEBA, endpoint protection (EPP) and endpoint detection and response (EDR) in a single package.
BlackBerry Protect Mobile extends the AI-based security in BlackBerry Protect to mobile devices, providing security teams with visibility into their mobile, desktop and server endpoints from a single security console. The product launch comes at a time when remote workers are increasingly being targeted with mobile malware and phishing attacks, says BlackBerry’s press release announcing the launch of Protect Mobile.
Built on the BlackBerry Spark platform, Protect Mobile leverages BlackBerry’s advanced AI engine to detect attacks before they can execute, and alerts users before opening URLs and visiting spoofing websites, says the release. It identifies security vulnerabilities and potential malicious activities by monitoring system parameters, device configurations and system libraries at the application level. It also identifies malware from sideloaded applications, and can ensure applications are only sourced through secure repositories, says the release.
“The number of phishing attacks that target mobile users will continue to rise because business is being conducted on mobile devices and users are more susceptible to attacks when viewing and accessing content on the go,” said Billy Ho, executive vice-president of BlackBerry Spark, in the release. “BlackBerry Protect Mobile provides mobile device security integrated into our unified endpoint security (UES) solutions for a simplified approach to identifying and alerting users and administrators to phishing attempts and mobile malware across the enterprise.”
The second product announced today, BlackBerry Persona Desktop, uses advanced AI and machine learning to provide continuous authentication to validate user identity in real-time and protect against security breaches. Also built on the BlackBerry Spark platform, BlackBerry Persona Desktop is the first cybersecurity solution to leverage biometric and behaviour-based machine learning models to create a real-time trust score for laptop and desktop users, says the press release announcing the product’s launch.
“For organizations that are adopting a Zero Trust model, BlackBerry Persona removes the friction of unnecessary re-authentication by continuously verifying a user’s identity after log-in,” said Frank Cotter, senior vice-president of product management at BlackBerry. “With continuous authentication, BlackBerry Persona uses behaviour analysis to recognize software usage patterns and determine what behaviour is high or low risk in real time. We are committed to developing innovative ways to keep our customers safe and secure and are proud to be the first to bring a solution like Persona Desktop to market.”
