WATERLOO – BlackBerry has named Marty Beard as its new chief operating officer effective immediately, the company said Monday.As COO, Beard is responsible for cross-functional organizations, including marketing, BlackBerry 10 application development, customer care and quality. He is also responsible for instituting best practices and processes, reads the announcement.Beard was most recently was chairman and CEO of LiveOps, Inc., a provider of cloud applications and mobile messaging.
