WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) has announced a line-up of top industry leaders and visionaries for The Cable Show ’08, NCTA’s 57th annual Convention and International Exposition, May 18-20, in New Orleans.
The opening General Session will feature a welcome by Convention Co-Chairs Debra Lee, Chairman & CEO, BET Holdings, Inc., and Rocco Commisso, Chairman & CEO, Mediacom Communications Corporation, as well as a state-of-the-industry speech by NCTA President and CEO, Kyle McSlarrow.
The follow-up panel session, Generation Next: What’s Now and What’s New in Broadband Media, will feature Peter Chernin, Director, President and CEO, News Corporation; Paul Otellini, President & CEO, Intel Corporation; Brian Roberts, Chairman & CEO, Comcast Corporation; Yoshi Yamada, CEO, Panasonic North America; and moderator William Kennard, former Chairman, Federal Communications Commission.
The General Session on May 19, Bit by Bit: Convergence Creates the Future, will feature top executives discussing how cable and its technology allies are harnessing the vast power of IP technology to create the next generation of voice, video and data businesses. The panel will include Glenn Britt, President & CEO, Time Warner Cable; Scott McNealy, Chairman, Sun Microsystems, Inc.; and moderator Debra Lee, Chairman & CEO, BET Holdings, Inc.
Tuesday’s General Session will focus on advertising. Getting Engaged: Advertising’s Quest to Connect will feature a keynote address by Deborah Wahl Meyer, Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer of The New Chrysler. The panel will include Pat Esser, President, Cox Communications, Inc.; David Verklin, CEO, Aegis Media Americas;Tony Vinciquerra, President & CEO, Fox Networks Group; and moderator Craig Moffet, Sr. Analyst, Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.
In addition to the three general sessions, six plenary sessions will be held, addressing advertising, business operations, the international marketplace, monetizing the digital platform, sports programming and video on demand.
