Benson, Ellis get promoted at Corus


TORONTO – Erica Benson has been named as vice-president of programming for Movie Central and SCREAM, while Ted Elis becomes vice-president of programming and production for CMT and Max Trax, Corus Entertainment announced Tuesday.

Benson, who was most recently director of programming, will oversee all aspects of scheduling and original production for Movie Central, Encore and SCREAM. She has over 15 years of experience in the television industry, including independent production and funding agencies.

Prior to joining Corus, she was acting director of Canadian independent production at Astral Media’s The Movie Network, and has also worked as vice-president of programming for Life Network and Discovery Health at Alliance Atlantis and as director of original production for Showcase.

Formerly director of programming for CMT, Ellis will lead the programming and production teams for CMT and will also oversee programming and business operations for Max Trax.

He joined CMT four years ago as production executive for CMT. Prior to joining Corus, Ellis was president of Media Giants Entertainment where he oversaw the production of series and specials for specialty and conventional broadcasters.
