L’ANSE-SAINT-JEAN, QC – Bell’s first HSPA+ wireless broadband digital network deployment site in the Fjord sector of the Fjord-du-Saguenay RCM will be up and running within the next two weeks.
The company said Tuesday that the network will be operational in l’Anse-Saint-Jean by December 10. The tower, located in the municipality, and the repeater on Mont Édouard, will enable cellular telephone and high-speed Internet access in L’Anse Saint-Jean and the surrounding areas along Route 170 up to the Mont Édouard ski centre.
The project was launched last April by the AIDE-TIC (Agence interrégionale de développement des technologies de l’information et des communications), an organization created by the Société d’aide au développement des collectivités du Fjord, and carried out in collaboration with Bell Mobility.
Scheduled to be completed by Fall 2011, the project will give the municipalities of Bégin, Saint-Honoré, Ferland-et-Boileau, Sainte-Rose-du-Nord, Baie-Éternité, Rivière-Éternité, Petit-Saguenay, Sacré-Cœur, Les Bergeronnes, Les Escoumins and Longue-Rive access to the network.
