Bell’s beavers are back

TORONTO – Bell Canada’s furry pitch-rodents are returning for the NHL playoffs.

Frank and Gordon, the pair of animated beavers that debuted during the Winter Olympics will celebrate the start of the 2006 National Hockey League Playoffs with the launch of their debut hockey anthem, a catchy little ditty called: “There’s Nothing More Canadian."

“While we love being spokespeople for Bell, we want to showcase our other talents as well.” Frank explained in the press release (he’s the taller one on the right, voiced by Norm MacDonald). “This song is a great fit because it gives us, as Canada’s national symbol, the chance to sing about the game that Canada gave the world. Also beavers have a natural affinity for the sport because our dam building was instrumental to the invention of pond hockey.”

Frank and Gordon will be promoting the new Hockey anthem in Bell-sponsored NHL arenas across Canada (Montreal, Ottawa, Edmonton), throughout the 2006 playoffs. At these locations, fans will have the chance to participate in the Bell Totally Hooked on the Playoffs ‘text and win’ contest, featuring a hockey-themed grand prize of season tickets for the 2006-07 NHL season (one grand prize awarded per arena).

“I love Hockey. I love singing with Frank. I love sandwiches,” added Gordon.
