Bell, Xplornet tapped to bring faster Internet speeds, 5G-ready services to PEI

CHARLOTTETOWN – Almost 30,000 rural residents across Prince Edward Island will soon have access to expanded high speed broadband Internet coverage through a combination of fibre and fixed wireless technologies provided by both Bell Canada and Xplornet Communications.The federal government said Friday that it will invest over $33.1 million in this project under the Rural and Northern Communities stream of the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan.  The PEI government will provide over $3.5 million, while Bell Canada and Xplornet together will contribute over $37 million.
