MONTREAL – Bell has launched a new Turbo Hub designed to offer landline voice service and in-home Internet access to rural and remote communities not already served by wireline broadband.
The Bell Turbo Hub allows clients to connect up to 15 devices at one time via either Ethernet ports or Wi-Fi service, and can also supply voice service when connected to a landline phone. The portable system delivers Internet access speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps on Bell Mobility’s HSPA+ mobile network once plugged it to a power outlet anywhere in Bell’s HSPA+ coverage area.
"Bell’s new HSPA+ network is delivering fast and reliable Internet access to thousands of small towns and remote communities across Canada, many of which have never had high-speed Internet access from anyone before," said Wade Oosterman, president of Bell Mobility and Bell’s chief brand officer, in a statement Wednesday. "The Turbo Hub is a great way to leverage the power of Canada’s best network to access the Internet in rural and remote locations across Québec and Ontario."
The Bell Turbo Hub is available for $149 on a two-year contract or $399 without a contract. Rate plans start at $40 per month for data-only usage. Customers can add local voice service for an additional $20 per month, or unlimited Canada-wide calling for an additional $40 per month.
