QUEBEC CITY – Bell said Wednesday that it will hire approximately 300 more technicians and other skilled workers in Quebec City this year as it continues the rollout of its fibre optic communications services.
The new hires will almost double the number of new jobs that Bell has created in Quebec City in the last year as part of the company’s $240 million fibre project that offers Fibe TV, Internet and home phone services in the province.
The telco also confirmed that its Bell Fibe customers in Quebec City will begin receiving enhanced Internet speeds of up to 175 Mbps for both uploads and downloads starting this weekend. Bell Fibe is now available in Quebec City downtown, Beauport, Cap Rouge, Charlesbourg, Loretteville and St-Augustin. Other locations such as Lévis, Charny, St-Nicolas and St-Romuald are being connected to the Fibe network with full coverage to be completed before the end of 2012.
"As a Quebec company, Bell is very proud to deliver the broadband networks that ensure Quebec City is one of the most connected capital cities anywhere in the world," said president and CEO George Cope, in the announcement. "Bell fibre optic technology delivers the best TV service, the best Internet experience and the best connectivity options for our business and government clients across the region."
