Bell technicians ratify deal

TORONTO – The 16 week telephone workers strike in Ontario officially ended today as 70% of Bell Subco (Entourage) workers voted in favor of the contract negotiated by the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers union.

Balloting among the 1,400 employees happened over the past 14 days and the union made the announcement this morning.

"This was a long and tough battle but our members… proved that they will stand and fight for what is right. This achievement is totally theirs," said CEP Ontario Region Administrative vice-president Bob Huget, in the union’s press release.

"We are pleased to have reached this four-year collective agreement, which addresses the priorities of the union and our Ontario employees while taking into account the realities of this highly competitive business," added Andrew Westcott, president, Entourage, in the company’s release.

"Entourage’s first priority is to resume delivery of customer installation and repair services to Bell Canada residential and small business clients," he added.
