Bell MTS to cut 85 jobs, says union

WINNIPEG – Downsizing at the newly merged Bell MTS is underway, according to Telecommunications Employees Association of Manitoba (TEAM-IFPTE Local 161) which represents a number of managers and professionals at the company.In a note to members posted on its website, the union said that “up to 85 positions have been targeted for elimination.”“Our Collective Agreement requires that the Company seek voluntary reductions prior to laying off any TEAM member”, continues the memo.  “It is TEAM’s hope that the reduction quota is achieved through voluntary means.”The memo added that TEAM and Bell MTS negotiated an agreement to enhance the payouts for...
