DETROIT – Bell Mobility and OnStar Canada today announced a deal where OnStar-equipped General Motors vehicles owned/driven by the wireless company’s customers will now be able to share calling plan minutes and receive one unique invoice from Bell Mobility.
OnStar Canada provides one-button, in-car safety services like emergency calls, directions, and remote un-locking.
Now, with the Bell minute-sharing with OnStar service plan, Bell Mobility customers can use their Bell Mobility calling plan minutes for OnStar hands-free calling and receive a single bill for all handheld and in-vehicle calls.
“Mobile connectivity has topped our subscribers’ wish list for some time, and our new Bell Minute-Sharing with OnStar plan responds to their requests for a reliable, flexible and affordable communications solution while in their vehicles,” said Dave Mitchell, marketing manager, OnStar Canada, in the press release. “This alliance with Bell Mobility reinforces our commitment to identifying and integrating new technologies into GM products to enhance the vehicle ownership and driving experience.”
“Bell Canada and OnStar Canada recognize the importance of promoting the safe use of wireless telecommunications while operating or stationary in a vehicle,” added Sanae Takahashi, vice-president, mobility marketing, services development, Bell Mobility. “The economy of shared minutes reduces costs for our customers while enhancing the OnStar service, which is known for its safety and security.”
The Bell Minute-Sharing with OnStar service plan is available to current OnStar subscribers who have vehicles equipped with OnStar digital hardware.
OnStar is available on more than 50 GM vehicles including SUVs, light trucks, minivans, crossovers, large and midsize sedans and small cars.
