Bell Mobility connects to Kids Help Phone

TORONTO – Bell Canada today announced a national mobile speed-dial access number for Kids Help Phone.

As part of celebrations of its 20th anniversary in wireless telephony, dialing #6868 from a Bell Mobility cell phone will now automatically connect callers, free of charge and anonymously to the professional counsellors at Kids Help Phone.

Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only bilingual, toll-free, 24-hour anonymous and confidential telephone and web counselling, referral and information service for children and youth. Calls to #6868 will be anonymous and will not show up on callers’ bills.

"We’ve accomplished so much during these 20 years and we want to give back to the community by making it easier for youth to connect with Kids Help Phone," said Robert Odendaal, Bell Mobility CEO, in the press release.

"Bell Mobility’s launch of enhanced wireless access to Kids Help Phone is another positive step in ensuring that every child in Canada has knowledge of, and access to, our important services," said Graham Lute, vice-president of national marketing and fund development for Kids Help Phone.

Bell is a founding partner of Kids Help Phone and sponsors its largest annual fundraising event, the Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone, which raised $2.1 million in 40 communities in 2005.

"On our twenty year anniversary, we say thanks to our loyal Canadian customers for allowing Bell Mobility to succeed as a wireless innovator; we look forward to continuing to lead the way in wireless for the next twenty years," added Odendaal.

As part of its anniversary celebration, starting today, Bell Mobility is also inviting all subscribers across Canada to download up to twenty free polyphonic ringtones and phone screensavers. Until July 22, users can simply launch their Mobile Browser and go to Download It then More Ringtones or More Screensavers, and choose the Mobility BDay category.
