MONTREAL – Bell’s 1.2 million-plus Bell Mobile TV subscribers now have full access to live and on-demand coverage of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games on their smartphones and tablets, the company announced Thursday.
As part of Bell’s announcement of the kickoff of its Olympics marketing campaign, the company said that the number of Bell Mobile TV subscribers has increased by 66% compared to over a year ago.
Thanks to a licensing agreement with the CBC, Bell customers now have access to CBC/SRC’s Winter Olympics coverage, as well as from affiliate channels TSN, TSN2 and RDS, Sportsnet, and TVA on their smartphones and tablets through Bell Mobile TV and the Bell TV App. The apps also allow Bell Fibe and Satellite TV customers to watch on the go over Wi-Fi networks.
“As a premier national partner to the Canadian Olympic Team, Bell is proud to support our athletes and bring all the action from Sochi to our customers on any screen they choose. We’re delivering the best of Canada on the best of Bell,” said Wade Oosterman, president of Bell Mobility and residential services, said in a statement.
Bell’s Sochi 2014 multimedia marketing campaign includes multiple new English and French-language television ads that feature Bell networks bringing Canada’s athletes to Canadians across all screens. The first ad, “The Best of Canada on the Best of Bell,” debuted during the Super Bowl, and was watched by an average audience of 8 million Canadians on CTV and RDS, according to Bell.
