Bell Media announced last week a strategic agreement with Telus to expand its connected TV live advertising capabilities into Western Canada, enabling new ad inventory across TSN, CTV and English-language specialty channels on the Telus TV+ platform.
Building on its launch of Addressable TV in 2023, Bell Media continues to evolve its live connected TV offering with expanded inventory, enhanced capabilities and broader distribution beyond its Bell Fibe footprint, Bell Media said in a press release.
The partnership with Telus marks the first agreement between a Canadian broadcaster and broadcast distributor to bring live linear ad replacement to market, Bell Media said. Key features of Bell Media’s live connected TV offering include seamless ad insertion within live streams, contextual and audience-based targeting, real-time campaign reporting, and full programmatic activation across major demand-side platforms, according to Bell Media.
“Bell Media continues to lead the evolution of Connected TV live in Canada. By launching with TELUS, we are extending our advertising solutions to Western Canada and enabling national scale for advertisers who want to reach audiences during live news, entertainment, and premium sports,” said Payal Gabrani-Bahl, senior vice president of data and advertising products and platforms at Bell Media. “This expansion unlocks new value for the entire ecosystem and delivers a more relevant viewing experience for Canadians.”
“We are excited to enable Bell Media to bring live ad replacement to TELUS TV+ for the first time. This launch introduces powerful new capabilities for advertisers and enhances the TV experience for our customers with more relevant, personalized advertising,” Amit Nag, vice president of smart home and entertainment at Telus, said in a statement. “We look forward to building on this momentum and driving continued innovation in Canada’s streaming landscape.”
Through Telus, Bell Media’s live connected TV inventory now reaches households across Alberta and British Columbia, complementing its established footprint in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Bell Media said it will continue to explore opportunities to expand its live connected TV offering to additional broadcasters and distributors across Canada.
