TORONTO – Bell Media tweaked its senior leadership team Thursday, promoting Stewart Johnston to president of media sales, marketing, and TSN following the departure of former Bell Media Sales president Stuart Garvie. In addition, Mike Cosentino is now president of content and programming, while Nanci MacLean is vice-president and head of Bell Media Studios.
Johnston’s role expands to include the leadership and strategic direction of Bell Media’s local and national advertising sales across all platforms, namely conventional and specialty TV, radio, out-of-home, and digital, reads the announcement. In addition to his responsibilities leading TSN, which he has done since 2010, Johnston’s portfolio also now includes Bell Media’s in-house creative agency.
As president of content and programming, Cosentino is responsible for the acquisition of Bell Media’s English programming across the company’s two conventional networks, specialty channels, and digital properties, including CraveTV. His portfolio also includes the development, creation, and execution of Bell Media’s original programming, and the in-house and independent content divisions become aligned under Cosentino’s new elevated role. Cosentino was named senior vice-president of CTV and Specialty in 2016.
As vice-president and head of Bell Media Studios, MacLean is responsible for all aspects of in-house production for Bell Media’s conventional and specialty channels. In addition to overseeing special productions including the IHeartRadio MMVAs, her portfolio also includes Exploration Production Inc. As head of Bell Media Studios, MacLean will work closely with Bell Media president Randy Lennox on developing new content, partnership, and business opportunities. MacLean was named vice-president of in-house production in 2013.
“With today’s appointments, we’re delighted to recognize the deep wealth of experience and industry respect for Stewart, Mike, and Nanci,” said Lennox, in the announcement. “These three leaders are positioned to drive Bell Media forward in how we collaborate with our partners, create content, and deliver results.”
Lennox also offered his congratulations to Garvie for his new role as Canadian CEO of GroupM.
