TORONTO – Bell Media has named Tyson Parker to the newly created position of head of artist and music industry relations, the company said Monday.
Reporting to entertainment production and broadcasting president Randy Lennox, Parker will be responsible for managing relationships within the artist and talent community as well as the wider music industry in English Canada as it pertains to Bell Media’s portfolio of TV, radio, and digital brands, reads the announcement.
Working closely with Lennox to grow market share and revenue through strategic alliances, Parker will help develop and implement strategies to create profitable synergies between artists and Bell Media’s brands, viewers, and listeners. He will be based at the company's 299 Queen Street West headquarters in downtown Toronto.
“Tyson brings a wealth of experience and a deep strategic understanding of the music industry to Bell Media,” said Lennox, in the announcement. “With his stellar reputation and track record, he will be instrumental in our strategy of further developing our relationship with the music industry and help us expand our leadership position as the #1 media company in Canada.”
“I’m looking forward to bringing my passion for the music and entertainment industries to Bell Media,” added Parker. “There is so much potential to connect Bell Media with artists and talent from the world of music, and I look forward to working with Randy and his team in creating new initiatives for Bell Media and its partners.”
Previously the VP of communications and artist relations for Universal Music Canada, Parker led Universal’s artist relations efforts, supporting key artists such as Bryan Adams, Drake, Katy Perry, Shania Twain, The Tragically Hip, Sam Roberts Band, Eminem and The Weeknd, among others. He was also responsible for Universal’s philanthropic policy.
Parker has worked with Bell Media on music properties such as the MMVAs, The Juno Awards, and We Day for many years, and works closely with music industry governing bodies Music Canada and CARAS on industry policy. He also sits on the MusiCounts Advisory board.
