Bell Media announces spring lineup for French-language specialty channels


Bell Media on Tuesday announced the slate of content coming this spring to its French-language specialty channels Canal D, Canal Vie, Investigation and Z.

Dangerous jobs, major renovation projects and hard-hitting investigations are some of the themes featured this season, with original productions remaining staples on the channels.

Offering a wide range of documentaries, Canal D will premiere a new series on high-risk jobs in the world of emergency air transport in Quebec, Urgence hélico, starting April 16 at 10 p.m. In the series, viewers will discover the challenges faced by nurses and flight paramedics through stories of spectacular rescues full of emotion, a press release says.

In a new season of Vie de chantier: Nouvelle génération, starting April 15 at 7:30 p.m. on Canal D, forestry operations have resumed north of Dolbeau, with young workers finding themselves in woods heavily damaged by forest fires, but where harvesting burned wood remains the priority.

With the third installment of the Présumé innocent series, Marie-Claude Savard and Sébastien Trudel delve back into the high-profile kidnapping of Sébastien Métivier. Présumé innocent premieres May 3 at 9 p.m. on Canal D.

Other Canal D offerings this spring include Céline Le silence (premiering May 1 at 9 p.m.), a documentary looking at the impact of Céline Dion’s career break; new documentary series Icônes automobiles (airing Saturdays at 8 p.m., since March 30) and Hot Wheels: Défi suprême (starting April 20 at 9 p.m.); and new seasons of Cauchemar sur l’autoroute (April 16 at 8 p.m.) and Les poids lourds du remorquage (April 16 at 9 p.m.).

On Canal Vie, a new renovation show starring Marie-Eve Janvier, Une maison signée Janvier, will debut April 16 at 8:30 p.m. The series follows the popular singer and host’s renovation project as she undertakes the transformation of a cottage where everything needs to be redone, with the help of entrepreneur Joël Boileau and designer Érik Maillé.

On April 15 at 8 p.m., Canal Vie will present Le poids de l’apparence, a documentary in which comedian Phil Roy embarks on a very personal quest to understand the origins of his eating disorder and how to overcome it.

Shows returning to Canal Vie this spring include Retracer ses origines (Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.), Des idées de grandeur dans ma cour (April 9 at 8 p.m.) and Trois fois plus (May 16 at 7:30 p.m.).

In addition to original productions, Canal Vie offers the acquired series Chirurgie de l’extrêmeStripteaseurs rénovateursJ’ai dit oui à la robe avec Tan France and Incroyables gâteaux.

Bell Media’s Investigation channel will air several documentaries on various criminal cases, including Kim vs Kanye: Le DivorceLe Bling Ring: Vols de starsWaco: Paroles de survivants and Affaire Tetris: Un puzzle mortel.

New series on Investigation include La secte de l’amourDans les jupes de la mortEmpire Playboy: Les dessous meurtriers and Queers de New York : Traque mortelle.

On Z, the new documentary series Robert Downey Jr: Ses voitures de rêve will premiere April 15 at 8 p.m.

Z will also present new seasons of dramas Shoresy, le salaud du hockeyStar Trek: DiscoveryStrike Back (French version) and the new Watchmen (French version), as well as new seasons of reality shows The Challenge: Alliances, mensonges et trahisonsDangers sur la route and Ridiculous.

In addition, starting April 17 at 7:30 p.m., Z will offer Plus ou moins misérable, a program where participants try to predict what score of “miserabilism” has been given to embarrassing situations.

Finally, for the second edition of Le maître du jeu, starting April 17 at 8 p.m. on Z, Mona de Grenoble, Marie-Lyne Joncas, Kevin Raphaël, Phil Roy and Tammy Verge will compete in skill, ingenuity and resourcefulness to meet the challenges imposed by the Master and his assistant.
