Bell makes smartphones more personal

MISSISSAUGA – Bell Mobility users will now be able to customize the main screens of their touch screen smartphones, the company said today.

Called the Bell Experience, the new interface is being rolled out the HTC Touch Diamond smartphone, and offers more than 60 ways to personalize a user’s home screen using icons for things like headline sports, news, weather, horoscopes, and email in order to streamline access to the users’ favourite content. It will be offered on other Windows Mobile 3G smartphones at a later date, the release says.

There is third party software and other sites consumers can go to to personalize their smart phones (check out www.crackberry.com, for example), but this is Bell’s first foray into directly helping their consumers make their handhelds look a little cooler

"Canadians have embraced smartphones and the mobile data services such as music downloads, email and TV that are made possible by our high speed 3G network. Making these services easily accessible, the Bell Experience gives the user dozens of ways to personalize the home screen, bringing the client experience to the next level," said Adel Bazerghi, senior vice-president of products for Bell.
