Bell launches AI-driven network operations solution built on Google Cloud

Bell announced Wednesday its new network AI operations (AI Ops) solution built on Google Cloud, which the telecom says shifts network management from reactive troubleshooting to proactive optimization.

Already deployed by Bell, this AI-powered approach “is already revolutionizing how it detects, analyzes, and presents network issues” and “has significantly improved Bell’s mean time to resolution (MTTR), enabling proactive network management that enhances reliability and optimizes the customer experience,” according to a Bell press release.

Leveraging Google Cloud’s AI and machine learning (ML) capabilities, Bell’s AI Ops solution was built using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) as well as Google Cloud’s BigQuery, Pub/Sub and custom AI/ML models. Introducing a new level of network intelligence, the AI Ops solution “autonomously correlates network data and customer experiences to better prioritize issues,” the release says.

Powered by Google Cloud’s Spanner Graph, Bell’s AI Ops solution dynamically assesses changes in network traffic to wholly understand the customer impact. In addition, Google’s Gemini multimodal AI models enable quick incident analysis, historical context retrieval and streamlined access to vendor documentation for faster issue resolution, Bell says.

Key benefits of Bell’s AI Ops solution, according to the telecom, are: AI-driven automation identifies and prioritizes network issues before they escalate, reducing service disruptions; automated network monitoring dramatically improves MTTR, resulting in faster recovery from outages; and advanced analytics provide real-time insights into network performance, allowing Bell to address potential issues before customers are affected.

“This initiative significantly enhances the customer experience by revolutionizing how Bell identifies and prioritizes network and service anomalies,” Mark McDonald, senior vice president of networks at Bell, said in a statement. “By leveraging Google Cloud’s AI, we are achieving greater accuracy and speed in resolving issues, accelerating our progress towards autonomous networks and continuously improving operations for an exceptional customer experience.”
