Bell kicks off second ‘Let’s Talk’ campaign in support of mental health

MONTREAL – Bell has launched a massive marketing effort around its second annual Bell Let's Talk campaign in support of Canadian mental health.

Highlighted by Bell Let's Talk Day on February 8, the campaign invites all Canadians to talk about mental illness in order to fight the lingering stigma that keeps many people from seeking the help they need.  For every text message sent and every long distance call made by Bell and Bell Aliant customers that day, the company will donate 5 cents to programs dedicated to mental health (regular long distance and text charges apply) in an effort to top the $3.3 million raised last year.

Bell also unveiled a community fund which will distribute $1 million more in 2012 to local organizations across Canada that are fighting the stigma and increasing access to mental health care.  Open to registered not-for-profit organizations, charities, local hospitals and social services agencies, this year’s application period runs through March 31 and grants will be disbursed before the end of the year.

Olympic medal-winner Clara Hughes is the national spokesperson for the campaign again this year, and will be joined by author, composer and performer Stefie Shock, and actor-comedian Michel Mpambara.
