Bell Media announced Thursday that it has secured a development agreement for Prejudice, a new drama series featuring Canadian actress Emily VanCamp of Captain America: Civil War fame.
Created by Celeste Parr of mini-series Plan B and produced by Toronto-based Neshama Entertainment, the new series follows rising litigator Liesl Wellington (VanCamp) as her life and career are thrown into upheaval when her past as a sex worker is publicly exposed.
“PREJUDICE tackles complex themes including identity, judgment, and resilience with unflinching honesty,” Justin Stockman, Bell Media’s vice president of content development and programming, said in a press release. “Celeste Parr has crafted a gripping narrative that is sure to captivate audiences, and the immensely talented Emily VanCamp is the perfect actor to bring this powerful story to life.”
Bell Media, Fox Entertainment Global, and Neshama Entertainment are currently in co-development on a second script for the series, according to the release.
The series order would mark the first show produced under a content licensing and distribution agreement between Bell Media and Fox Entertainment Global, announced in the fall of 2023.
