Bell first to launch Samsung Knox security for business customers

MONTREAL – Bell seems poised to take on BlackBerry in the bring-your-own-device arena after becoming the first carrier to launch Samsung Knox security for business customers on Thursday.

Samsung Knox is a security solution that ensures enterprise customers, such as financial institutions, law firms, government agencies and businesses, have a high level of security and protection when employees use their own mobile devices at work or use their work devices as part of their everyday life.

The platform provides enhanced security from the hardware through to the application layer featuring Security Enhancements for Android, Trusted Secure Boot, and TrustZone-based Kernel Integrity Measurement. Knox also separates business and personal data, allowing enterprises to manage corporate data independently from personal user information.

Additional features include:

– A suite of enterprise applications including email, file sharing, CRM, browser, contacts and collaboration;

– Compatibility with existing common enterprise infrastructure such as MDM (Mobile Device Management), VPN and directory services; and

–  Automatic integration of existing Android ecosystem applications including FIPS compliant VPN, Enterprise Single Sign On (SSO), Active Directory and on-device encryption.

Samsung Knox is available immediately for the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 through Bell, the only Canadian mobile carrier to offer a fully integrated Samsung Knox solution for business customers. Support for the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available soon with additional Samsung devices to follow.

"Bell is proud to be the first carrier in the world to offer Samsung Knox to Canadian business and government customers. It's a state of the art solution for balancing IT, security and other corporate requirements with employee satisfaction," said Wade Oosterman, president of Bell Mobility, in the announcement. "More companies are implementing 'Bring Your Own Device' strategies, and Samsung Knox solves the challenges of managing governance, compliance and security of mobile devices while ensuring the privacy of employee as well as company data."
