Bell expands fibre Internet service to Uxbridge, Côte-de-Beaupré and Île d’Orléans

UXBRIDGE and MONTREAL – Bell announced earlier this week it will expand pure fibre Internet service to homes and businesses in Uxbridge, Côte-de-Beaupré and Île d’Orléans.

By the end of the year, the expansion in Uxbridge “will bring all-fibre broadband access to approximately 3,000 locations,” according to a Bell press release.

In Côte-de-Beaupré and Île d’Orléans the expansion program covers  “homes and businesses in the Saint-Tite-des-Caps in Côte-de-Beaupré as well as Saint-Jean-de-l’Île-d’Orléans and Saint-Laurent-de-l’Île-d’Orléans,” another press release says.

The program already brings “all-fibre broadband access to approximately 600 locations in these Île d’Orléans communities and in an additional 500 locations in Saint-Tite-des-Caps by the end of 2021.”

Both projects are fully funded by Bell, according to the press releases. They are also both part of Bell’s accelerated capital investment plan, which was announced in February of this year and was increased by $1.7 billion to $2.7 billion over two years a few months later in May.

This funding “is in addition to the approximately $4 billion in capital Bell typically invests in broadband network infrastructure and expansion each year,” the press releases say. The investment will “accelerate the rollout of its broadband fibre, 5G and rural networks and help drive Canada’s recovery from the COVID crisis.”
