Bell expanding pure fibre Internet in the Acadian Peninsula and Oshawa

FREDERICTON and OSHAWA, Ont. — Bell Canada announced today the expansion of its pure fibre Internet service in several communities in New Brunswick as well as urban and rural areas of Oshawa, Ont.

The New Brunswick communities include Lamèque, Miscou Centre, Saint-Raphäel-sur-Mer, Haut-Shippagan, Le Goulet and Pigeon Hill.

“Part of Bell’s accelerated capital investment in national next-generation network infrastructure, the expansion program will bring all-fibre broadband access to approximately 4,600 locations in the Acadian Peninsula by the end of 2021,” reads a press release.

In Oshawa, Bell says it has achieved “a major milestone”, having expanded its all-fibre broadband access to more than 44,000 locations in and around the city.

“The expansion program will bring direct-fibre network connections to an additional 10,000 locations by the end of 2021,” a separate release says.

This expansion is part of a $100 million investment Bell announced in 2018 to bring direct-fibre network connections to approximately 60,000 homes and business locations in Oshawa.
