Bell debuts Palm Pre smart phone

MISSISSAUGA, ON – The popular Apple iPhone has some official competition in Canada.

The new Palm Pre smart phone is now available exclusively at Bell stores and its retail partners across Canada for $199.95 on a three-year contract, or for $599.95 without a contract with a minimum 500 MB data plan.

The Pre is the first phone based on the Palm webOS platform, which brings mobile applications together in a “unique and intuitive” multi-tasking environment that is integrated with social networking tools and search functions.  It also features a physical keyboard that slides out from beneath the touch screen.

"Bell is only the second carrier in the world to offer the award-winning Palm Pre, which is getting rave reviews for its uniquely attractive design and revolutionary Palm webOS mobile platform,” said Wade Oosterman, president of Bell Mobility and Chief Brand Officer for Bell, in the announcement. “We’ve seen exceptionally strong advance interest in Palm Pre and have worked closely with Palm to ensure we have sufficient stock on hand to satisfy demand.”
