TORONTO – Bell Canada launched kidsmania on Wednesday, a safe, fun, educational online world for kids aged 3 to 12.
Kidsmania offers more than 50 interactive ‘edutainment’ games and activities for kids, featuring the most popular characters including Clifford the Big Red Dog, Caillou, Pajama Sam, Math Missions, Franklin, Cornemuse, and others, says the press release..
"Parents will love the fact that their children are learning in a safe and secure online environment while having fun," said Charlotte Burke, president, Bell Sympatico. "And kids will be having so much fun playing on kidsmania they won’t even know they are learning!"
According to the recently released Bell Canada Consumer Survey, the majority of Canadian parents who have purchased edutainment software (95%) say that this software is a useful educational tool for their child. The survey also revealed that many Canadian parents (33%) reported that online gaming was one of their child’s favourite activities. Unfortunately, not all of the games available on the Internet or at the local video store are appropriate for children.
Parents can choose the most appropriate world and parental control settings for their child, based on their age and preferences. For example, parents can set a rule requiring a password before younger users can exit, preventing them from venturing unsupervised onto the Internet. Gamma, kidsmania’s interactive guide, helps children choose games and activities from categories such as Learning, Just for Fun, Action and Adventure and Creativity. As the child develops, so do the games, offering kids new and fun ways to learn.
It’s $14.95 a month, or $6 for Sympatico ISP customers, and is available across Canada in both English and French through www.Kidscorner.Sympatico.MSN.ca and www.bell.ca.
