Bell brings free Wi-Fi to ‘The Main’

MONTREAL – Bell has flipped the switch on free high-speed Wi-Fi service along ‘The Main’, one of Montreal’s busiest streets.

The telco said Wednesday that thanks to a partnership with Société de développement du boulevard Saint-Laurent, visitors to Saint-Laurent Boulevard between Sherbrooke Street and Mont-Royal Avenue may now access the service on their laptops, smart phones or tablets.  Thirty minutes of Wi-Fi access will be offered free of charge every 24 hours for all network users, while Bell Mobility customers will have unlimited free access around the clock.

"Bell is very pleased to expand our Wi-Fi network – already the country's biggest – to one of the most popular commercial districts in Canada," said Almis Ledas, VP of corporate development for Bell Mobility, in the announcement.

The move means Bell now powers over 2,000 hot spots across Canada, including 1,000 McDonald's restaurants, 800 Starbucks locations and almost 100 Indigo-Chapters bookstores.
