Bell bringing Perplexity Pro AI search tool to mobility and internet customers

Bell announced Monday a partnership with San Francisco-based Perplexity, described as a conversational AI-powered search engine, making Bell the company’s exclusive telecommunications partner in Canada.

Through the partnership, Bell is offering eligible Bell Mobility and Bell Internet customers 12 months of free access to Perplexity Pro, an AI research and productivity tool valued at nearly $300, according to a Bell press release. Mobility customers will begin receiving their redemption codes in the coming days via email, text and their MyBell accounts, while internet customers will have access starting in fall 2025.

“With Perplexity Pro, customers can access leading AI models like GPT-5, Claude 4.0, and Gemini 2.5 Pro to support tasks ranging from research and writing, to content planning and data analysis,” Bell’s press release says.

Key features of Perplexity Pro include: 600 daily pro searches; unlimited file upload and analysis; advanced summarization, citation and research functionality; image generation tools; and early access to Comet, Perplexity’s new agentic browser.

“Artificial intelligence tools are fundamentally reshaping how we interact with information,” said Blaik Kirby, Bell group president of consumer and small business, in a statement. “Through our partnership with Perplexity, we’re giving millions of Canadians the opportunity to experience the best of AI — powered by Bell’s award-winning networks, wherever they are. Whether conducting research, uploading files or generating content, the speed and performance of Bell’s networks are the key to delivering massive amounts of data in real time.”

This is the latest AI-related announcement made by Bell in recent months. At the end of July, Bell announced a partnership with Cohere to provide full-stack sovereign AI solutions for government and enterprise customers. That followed Bell’s announcement in May that it is building six AI compute facilities in British Columbia as part of its Bell AI Fabric initiative. Also in May, Bell said it was partnering with Zoom to provide an AI-powered workplace collaboration solution for businesses.
