TORONTO – Bell Canada and corporate cousin MTV announced Friday a mobile phone deal that makes MTV content exclusively available to Bell Mobility subscribers.
It’s the first mobile partnership for the MTV brand in Canada, "delivering on MTV’s promise to offer content across the mobile platform," says the press release.
MTV is owned and operated in Canada by CTV Specialty, a division of Bell Globemedia.
Available now on Bell Mobility capable devices, the 10 Spot Grab includes video highlights, screensavers and ringtones taken from the hottest shows in MTV’s 10 Spot programming block with access 24 hours a day, seven days a week on customers’ mobile phones.
"We know Bell Mobility customers are going to love this new service," said David Inns, vice-president, consumer marketing, Bell Mobility.
MTV’s 10 Spot features programs like Laguna Beach, The Real World: Key West, The Gauntlet II and My Super Sweet 16. Produced for the Bell Mobility platform, the 10 Spot Grab delivers original MTV programming on demand including one to three minute previews, highlights and excerpts of MTV 10 Spot shows and is refreshed weekly.
As an additional benefit, MTV and Bell Mobility are making further 10 Spot show clips, as well as MTV classics, available right off of MTV’s broadband channel, MTV Overdrive. Show clips can be sent directly to a Bell Mobility cell phone by clicking on the mobile icons found throughout www.mtv.ca.
"We’re giving Canadians the opportunity to have a continuous MTV experience – from the analogue channel to broadband to their mobile phone," said Kris Faibish, vice-president of digital media, CTV and executive producer, MTV Overdrive.
The content will be available on video enabled handsets including the Motorola e815 and Motorola VC3 RAZR phones as well as Samsung a920, Sanyo 8300 and Sanyo 7500.
Bell Mobility customers can either download individual clips or access unlimited MTV video content by subscribing to a bundle starting at $20 per month. The 10 Spot Grab content will also include new
downloadable screensavers and ringtones.
