HALIFAX – Bell Aliant announced a number of new enhancements for its customers in Atlantic Canada Tuesday with the launch of a new FibreOp TV feature called Restart, more On Demand TV programming, and faster Internet service.

Restart offers customers the ability to watch select TV shows already in progress from the beginning and browse backwards in the guide for up to 30 hours and watch previously aired programs as if they were live TV. The feature supports programming on over 100 channels including CBC, CTV, Global TV, HBO Canada, Super Channel and TSN.

Customers with both HD and PVR will receive Restart automatically over the next several weeks through a new FibreOp TV software upgrade that will also see an enhanced on-screen menu and channel guide.  In addition, customers will receive 25 new On Demand channels equaling close to 1,000 more hours of content added to the On Demand library.

Billed as the fastest Internet experience in Canada, Gigabit FibreOp will initially be available at a maximum of up to 940/100 Mbps increasing to up to 1000 Megabits (1 Gigabit) per second or faster in 2016.  The service is available in more than 100 communities across Atlantic Canada.

"Restart and Gigabit FibreOP are the latest examples of Bell Aliant's ongoing leadership in delivering customers more of the innovative products and services they want," said vice chair and SVP residential services Dan McKeen, in the news release.  "The power of FibreOP means customers can watch more, do more, and share more, now faster than ever. These are the kind of innovations our customers are looking for, made possible by our 100% fibre to the home network."
