Bell Aliant, Genband garner innovation award

HALIFAX, NS and FRISCO, TX – Bell Aliant and Genband, a developer of multimedia and cloud communications solutions, were jointly awarded the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award in London last week in recognition of their efforts and collaboration in business unified communications.

“Being recognized as a global leader alongside Genband is very encouraging as we continue our commitment to provide our customers with the most efficient, advanced and flexible options available in the market,” said Kelly Duplisea, Bell Aliant’s vice-president, business market, in a release.

Bell Aliant’s deployment of Genband’s recently launched SPiDR WebRTC gateway garnered an award in the business service innovation category, which celebrates the work that vendors and operators are doing together to develop innovative projects in order to better serve customers.

Genband’s SPiDR WebRTC Gateway enables real-time communications, such as video, voice and IM to be launched within a browser with the click of a mouse.

Bell Aliant and Genband worked together to deploy the new system to ensure that Bell Aliant customers receive enhanced browser-based capabilities that allow for collaboration and anywhere connectivity.

“WebRTC is one of the most talked about new technologies in the industry,” said B.G. Kumar, president of Genband’s multimedia business unit. “This leading edge WebRTC deployment across one of North America’s largest networks demonstrates the market opportunities of this innovative technology.”
