CHICOUTIMI, QC – Bell Aliant launched its fibre optic network in the first three of seven Quebec communities this week, flipping the switch in Alma, Saguenay (Chicoutimi, Jonquière), and Victoriaville.
The company said that FibreOp brings the very latest and best 100% fibre optic network technology directly to a customer's home, and that the dedicated connection delivers the fastest Internet service with download speeds of up to 250 Mbps, the best TV service in the market, and “fully loaded” home phone service.
"Launching our FibreOp service in these first three Quebec communities is a significant milestone for us and we are on track to complete the additional communities by year end," said Bell Aliant president and CEO Karen Sheriff, in the news release. "With today's digital lifestyle, speed matters more than ever and FibreOp is designed to deliver the best Internet and TV experience today and in the future. We can't wait for customers to see the difference our world class network makes in their everyday lives."
Customers in Saint-Félicien will be able to purchase FibreOp in October, while the additional communities of La Baie, Rivière-du-Loup, Roberval, and Thetford Mines will be added by the end of the year.
Bell Aliant now deploys FTTH to more than 879,000 premises in more than 89 communities throughout Atlantic Canada, Ontario and Quebec. The company is on track to meet its FTTH footprint target of one million available premises by the end of 2014.
